WHAT THE FUCK

I just NOPEd the most forceful nope of my life

This report came across my desk at work a while ago. It’s so terrifying and perfectly highlights rape culture.

When people tell me “But we ARE already teaching ‘don’t rape.’ No one thinks rape is ok.” I will print this data on a 2 X 4 and smack them with it.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

I DON’T WANT TO LIVE ON THIS PLANET ANYMORE

Check out the highest percentages of males. Over HALF of them think it’s okay to rape a girl if  she changes her mind or has led them on. Think of how many movies you have seen the girl “lead the guy on” but was a bitch because she refused? Because she didn’t want to go with the guy’s douchey behavior?

When are people going to tell boys it’s not okay to rape a girl?

I don’t particularly find poll findings like this surprising… for men. This is a relatively old study and I believe those polled were from the Los Angeles metropolitan area only but even so, it’s shocking to see girls and women agree that rape is acceptable in any instance, since they make up the overwhelming majority of rape victims.

I’d be interested to see newer studies that first asked what the definition of rape was and featured a broader set of respondents. Incidents of rape have gone down in the last 20 years or so but it’s quite clear that it’s still an enormous problem.

This is rape culture.

A List of “Men’s Rights” Issues That Feminism Is Already Working On

Feminists do not want you to lose custody of your children. The assumption that women are naturally better caregivers is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not like commercials in which bumbling dads mess up the laundry and competent wives have to bustle in and fix it. The assumption that women are naturally better housekeepers is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to have to make alimony payments. Alimony is set up to combat the fact that women have been historically expected to prioritize domestic duties over professional goals, thus minimizing their earning potential if their “traditional” marriages end. The assumption that wives should make babies instead of money is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want anyone to get raped in prison. Permissiveness and jokes about prison rape are part of rape culture, which is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want anyone to be falsely accused of rape. False rape accusations discredit rape victims, which reinforces rape culture, which is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to be lonely and we do not hate “nice guys.” The idea that certain people are inherently more valuable than other people because of superficial physical attributes is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to have to pay for dinner. We want the opportunity to achieve financial success on par with men in any field we choose (and are qualified for), and the fact that we currently don’t is part of patriarchy. The idea that men should coddle and provide for women, and/or purchase their affections in romantic contexts, is condescending and damaging and part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to be maimed or killed in industrial accidents, or toil in coal mines while we do cushy secretarial work and various yarn-themed activities. The fact that women have long been shut out of dangerous industrial jobs (by men, by the way) is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to commit suicide. Any pressures and expectations that lower the quality of life of any gender are part of patriarchy. The fact that depression is characterized as an effeminate weakness, making men less likely to seek treatment, is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to be viewed with suspicion when you take your child to the park (men frequently insist that this is a serious issue, so I will take them at their word). The assumption that men are insatiable sexual animals, combined with the idea that it’s unnatural for men to care for children, is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want you to be drafted and then die in a war while we stay home and iron stuff. The idea that women are too weak to fight or too delicate to function in a military setting is part of patriarchy.

Feminists do not want women to escape prosecution on legitimate domestic violence charges, nor do we want men to be ridiculed for being raped or abused. The idea that women are naturally gentle and compliant and that victimhood is inherently feminine is part of patriarchy.

Feminists hate patriarchy. We do not hate you.

Here’s a laugh about the unconstitutional ND abortion restriction laws so you don’t rage yourself into a heart attack.

“so we are clear, North Dakota just banned abortion less than 2 weeks after a missed period. In a state with 1 clinic. w/24hr wait” - @robinmarty
I think the only appropriate response to this is HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
For more information, click here.

In case any of you are keeping count at home, this means the number of states in direct violation of the law of the land and the constitution is now 2.
Stay tuned next week to hear another GOP politician say something stupid about rape, I’m sure it’ll happen, after all, the CPAC has only just started.

Tumblr has taught me more about feminism, women rights, rape culture, slut shaming, etc, more than school ever had. And there is something wrong with that.

I’ve never asked anyone to reblog anything before, and I probably won’t again. But I am now - because this matters.

The Steubenville rape victim, when offered money for her legal expenses or counselling, asked that people donated to a shelter for abused women and children in her county, Madden…

from The Invisible War

This is exactly how it happens too.

Oh they’ll preach that SAPR shit all day fucking long, call us into bullshit All Hands meetings every Thursday, encourage the liberty buddy policy until they’re blue in the face but the MINUTE a woman reports a rape and it happens to be Blue-on-Blue (meaning Navy-on-Navy), they start acting skittish, they start questioning you, making you doubt your own trauma, making you feel embarrassed, making you feel like it’s your fucking fault.

I literally hold that the military is the ultimate bastion of every despicable injustice known to man, and I unfortunately work for them.

But I’ve overheard officers and enlisted superiors talking about this, and how dismissive they are, claiming that most of the women that report cases are lying and trying to ruin the man’s life.

And let’s not even start on how they treat the same-sex cases.

Still in my queue to watch soon, when I have the time and I’m up for it.
